Our story begins when we decided to get my daughter a bunny. She had said more times than I can remember that she needed a pet of her own. Her brother had the dog and I had my chickens, she needed her own. So after she brought home a book report on "the care of rabbits" we said okay. It was then we brought home a mini rex rabbit named Molly. To say the rest is history would be leaving out some good feels. My daughter fell in love and truthfully so did I. Taking care of Molly became something we did together. And the more time went by the more we read and researched. Molly is an awesome bun. She hangs out on the deck and hops through the screen door in the summer just looking for her next snack. Much like my love and interest for my feather friends had grown over years (even before I had chickens), I saw that passion growing in my own daughter. So we looked into the 4-H club, we joined the ARBA and soon enough we were head first into the world of rabbits. As much as we loved it we found some sad truths. Rabbits for a long time were seen as "pocket pets" an animal that just lives in a cage. A lot of bunnies don't even make it to their first birthday when living in families with misinformation. We learned that bunnies thrive on social interaction but many of them live ignored and alone. Lack of socialization and bad breeding leads to many rabbits in shelters. That's why breeding with a purpose is so important. We set out to improve our breeds with good health, excellent temperaments and desired characteristics. We want to be a support for bunny families. We want to be able to provide and find answers together. Rabbits are intelligent, beautiful creatures that we should all be able to enjoy and bond with.
